Tuition Testimonials
My son has been learning guitar with Rob for a couple of years. He has gone from a complete novice to a confident guitarist. All of my son’s lessons have been over Zoom. While initially I was sceptical it has proved to be an excellent media for guitar lessons. I would definitely recommend him . Rob’s teaching is excellent, he is patient, supportive and makes learning guitar enjoyable for my son (as it should be).
I've loved working with Rob over the last couple of years. It's really expanded my guitar knowledge and ability, and he has a wealth of knowledge that I feel allows me to constantly ask questions regardless of the genre. I only wish he'd been my teacher when I was younger! The lessons over video calls have worked really well for me, as my schedule can be erratic with work commitments. He goes to great lengths to ensure the audio and video works well and I've found the sessions to be great!
I have been learning guitar from Rob for two and a half years and really look forward to my lessons. Rob is so patient and encouraging, and he is great at explaining clearly what I can do to improve my playing. I have found that at every lesson I learn something new that helps me progress.
I started with face to face lessons but needed to change to on-line lessons on Zoom. I wasn’t sure if Zoom lessons would work as well for me as face to face, but they’ve been great. The sound and picture are very clear and it is easy to see and understand what Rob is explaining. You can also have a video recording of your lessons if you want to go over anything later.
Rob is an excellent teacher with a warm and friendly manner, and I highly recommend him.
I found Robin's website during lockdown and after an introductory Zoom meeting began lessons 3 years ago, all of which have been online. I feel I have made great progress during this time. The lessons are individualised and meet my personal needs. Robin has also been very flexible adjusting lessons around my rather irregular work schedule. I can recommend his teaching without reservation.
I was definitely apprehensive about taking up guitar again after a fifty year gap, but I couldn’t have found a better teacher than Rob. He quickly put me at my ease and mapped out a lesson plan perfectly suited to my musical interests and experience. Most of the teaching has been done via Zoom and this has worked very well. Rob provided a wealth of material to work from and lessons were well structured and immensely enjoyable. With Rob’s enthusiasm and encouragement, I quickly made progress far beyond what I’d expected. Rob is also a very fine musician and during the course of the lessons introduced me to the magical, if challenging, world of jazz guitar. Three years on with lessons, I feel I’ve added a whole new dimension to my life.
I cannot recommend the online guitar lessons from Rob highly enough. His enthusiasm, support and technical skills are outstanding and infectious. He is a highly accomplished musician in his own right. For me, who works and has two children, online is by far the best option. I click in and click out without having to sort out meeting places or travel. Rob has a clear method: we practice particular pieces following a learning arc which builds skills in a logical and useful way as time progresses. This creates skills to tackle more complex arrangements. Having fumbled my way around a guitar since I was 15 I only wish I’d begun formal training with Rob much earlier.
I find the Zoom lessons great. Learning in my home surroundings helps with my nervousness. Robin is an excellent teacher and shapes the lessons to the style of music you like, whilst introducing other styles and techniques. I would highly recommend Robin as a guitar instructor
Rob is one of the most amazing teachers we have met. He takes the time to find out what music interests you have and tailors that into the lessons. He is such a positive inspirational person, he motivates and has such an ability to bring the best out in you. Feel honoured that he is our son’s teacher.
Learning any musical instrument takes time, effort and patience but having a good teacher such as Robin certainly helps.
I only started playing the guitar when I retired and began lessons with Robin. Beginning with a steel acoustic guitar we soon moved to classical guitar as that is where my main interest is. I’ve now been learning with Robin for a few years. He has a genuine passion for music and brings enthusiasm to each lesson, which makes the whole learning process enjoyable. He’s patient, supportive and encouraging and I always find my lessons enjoyable and leave with a smile on my face. His approach means he finds pieces for me to work on that are interesting and challenging without being intimidating. There’s often a fine line between the two.
Most of my lessons now take place over zoom even though we only live five minutes from each other. That is testimony to how effective Zoom and Robin are in delivering the lesson. Even over zoom he picks up on small technique changes that make a huge difference in the sound produced. Things that I wouldn’t spot for myself.
